Sharing your research with peers, staff, and wider audiences can be nerve-wracking — but also incredibly energising.
At the University of Brighton’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Showcase, I was invited to speak about my ESRC-funded PhD on blue spaces, accessibility, and wellbeing. The event celebrated diverse forms of research impact and public engagement — and I was thrilled to win The People’s Prize and Judge’s First Runner-Up for my 3-Minute Thesis presentation.
It was a reminder that research can reach people in many ways — through story, creativity, and clarity as much as through data.
Recognition is lovely — but what meant most was hearing how the project resonated with others. That sense of connection is what Accessible Waters is really all about.
